Day 7 Great Basin

Today is the only day we do travel then visit park same day.  Three hour drive this morning went fine. Destination, Baker, Nevada. Beeping noise still there so I've got more figuring to do.  But it's liveable.

This is our furthest point from home.  Time to check tire wear.

So I don't think I will need to rotate any tires.  And need to think hard about replacing the axle if it takes 4 to 6 thousand miles to notice wear on the tire.

Last 90 miles across huge valley with no fuel anywhere plus cows grazing at roadside.  Glad we don't have to go back that way.

Got rig setup before lunch and went to park:

We had read the cafe at the visitors center had good food.  They were right!

After lunch we drove the scenic drive up to Weaver Peak.  Lots of awesome views:

The start of the climb we were driving through a lot of clouds, but we kept going and glad we did!  We stopped where the road is closed due to snow, which we saw by the road:

We went to a little over 9000 foot elevation.  Then we stopped on way down at 8500 foot to hike part of Osceola Ditch trail:

At Bryce Canyon during a ranger talk on pines we learned about the vanilla smell from Ponderosa pines.  Hard to detect there at Bryce. But we tried it here and the smell was strong!
