Day 11 - Arches

Day started with mobile RV tech diagnosing that the beeping issue is a truck problem.  He did go ahead and inspect all 4 trailer brakes and wheel bearings.  Bearings were a little loose.  Brakes are fine.  Found a screw in a trailer tire, he got tire repaired for me.

I have arranged for a mobile truck tech to come tomorrow at 9 to likely install a new aftermarket brake controller.  Will take about 1/2 day.  Bummer.

Meantime we left for Arches for the day. Finally we've got shorts weather (high temp over 70)! Our kids know the rules!! Actually, it got to 90 but not humidity like southern Indiana so it was tolerable.

Diane said I had to be in a sign picture.  Usual stop at Visitors Center for film and ranger advice of what to do.  Basically drove the main scenic drive up and back with several stops for hikes or pictures.

Stopped at Balanced Rock:

Hiked up Devil's playground trail to see Landscape Arch:

Diane was a trooper today, some sections were steep:

They call these tall narrow formations fins:

Had lunch on a shady picnic table:

Then visited Sand Dune Arch.  Tight walk getting in:

Saw Delicate Arch from a distance.  You can see it at the top of this cropped selfie:

This Arch is the iconic view not only for the park but also for the NPS.

Then we stopped at double arch:

Diane found interesting that the last time one of these over 2000 arches fell was 2008.

One the way back we got ice cream in Moab.  Then back to trailer.  Frank came by to get paid.  And we've got some downtime before the Pacers game.  This glamping place even has cable TV so no problem getting ESPN for the game.
