Day 10 - travel to Moab

What a change.  First, temps are now in low 80s.  Second, our campground is really nice.  Called Moab RV and Glamping.  They do not allow campers built prior to 2014 (may make an exception if you send a picture first!).  Here's our site:


Got here at noon, 3 hour drive.  Ran some errands this afternoon, then laid around. Went to dinner - disappointed in first place, left after beer and apps.  Second place much better, got pub brat which was yummy. Diane thinks that Moab doesn't know how to do an IPA.

Came back to campground and sat on second story deck to watch sunset.  Very nice place.


Tomorrow I have a mobile RV repair guy, Frank, coming to hopefully repair the trailer issues that cause the truck to keep beeping at me.  From conversation he seemed to understand the issue and knows how to fix it (prayers appreciated). He comes at 8. May leave him working on trailer because we have to leave by 9:30 to use our entry passes for Arches!

Utah and National Parks

We are departing tomorrow, 4/29 for a 15 day trip to visit Utah.  Here's a picture of the portion of our National Park map showing the 8 parks (in brown) that we plan to "scratch off" during this trip: Here's a picture of our itinerary: One of the issues I've been struggling with is that Basdens RV says my front axle is bent about 1/4 inch, ie toed out.  Found while re-packing my wheel bearings.  I had noticed excessive wear on the tire on the drivers side front last year: Basdens could not replace the axle before our trip.  So I am going to proceed with a bent axle.  The issue is, how quickly does it wear?  In other words, how long ago did the axle get bent?  We don't remember hitting anything real hard.  I moved this worn tire from the drivers side to the passenger side last year, then put about 600 miles on the trailer after the rotation.  Here's how much wear the 600miles caused: Can't hardly see any.  So, how much wear will we get o...

Day 16 Home Again in Indiana

Rolled in today little after 5pm.  We are both ready to not ride in the truck for a while! Tonight we scratched off the 8 National Parks we saw in the last 2.5 weeks: It was a beautiful yet tiring trip.  We have now visited 40 of the 64 National Parks.  Have to start planning the next trip!

Day 2 - First National Park

I was worried about tires on this trip.  Turns out the issue this time is an old one I thought was solved, beeping in truck saying trailer disconnected then it clears.  My friend at Law Chevrolet today recommended an additional ground.  Here's me making a ground from an extension cord: Unfortunately it did not solve the issue.  I may end up wearing headphones while driving to avoid the beeping. Diane saw some pronghorn while we were driving.  PJ is well familiar with these.  Here's what a pronghorn looks like: We did arrive at Allamosa KOA late afternoon.  Went to Great Sand Dune Park for initial visit.  Couple of pics: Then we found a local brew pup.  Very good.
